  2. Nov. 26-29: 26th Annual Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk


    Nothing can stop Springfield’s Thanksgiving tradition, even if we can’t all be together this year. The 26th Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk Presented by Brad Bradshaw, MD, JD, LC, takes place Thursday, Nov. 26 through Sunday, Nov. 29, at the location of your choice. Register to complete a 5K over Thanksgiving weekend, alone or with friends and family. Registration includes a long-sleeved Turkey Trot t-shirt and commemorative race bib, and the opportunity to upload race times and photos to compete for prizes. Proceeds benefit the Springfield-Greene County Park Board Youth Recreation Scholarship Fund and the Developmental Center of the Ozarks. Drive-through packet-pick-up is Wednesday, Nov. 25, at Killian Sport Complex — be sure to bring five food items to donate to Ozarks Food Harvest. Register at ParkBoard.org/TurkeyTrot

  4. Wed., Dec. 23: Game of Skate and High Ollie Contest


    Two contests, two categories. In the Game of SKATE, one skater starts by doing a trick, and other the other players try to duplicate it. For every miss, they get a letter and when they have enough letters to spell SKATE, they’re out. The last remaining skater is the winner, like the basketball game HORSE. Test your High Ollie skills on our high bar. Winner with the highest jump over the bar is the winner — a reverse Limbo! Choose Intermediate or Advanced divisions. Prizes awarded. Limited skateboard rentals available.

    Come out and see more beautiful parks while gaining a new skill with Accessible Recreation! Disc Golf Is a great way to stay active and enjoy the great outdoors! Classes will cover basics of the game including rules, short and long throws, and good form, all in a fun and supportive environment at Oak Grove Park.
