SPRINGFIELD, MO — The Springfield-Greene County Park Board, in partnership with the Missouri Department of Conservation, hosts the 42nd Annual Kids Fishing Fun Day, Saturday, June 3, at Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park, 3825 W. Farm Road 146, Springfield.

This free event is designed to teach kids how to fish and encourage them to put their new skills to work throughout the summer.

The fishing pond at Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park is fully stocked with largemouth bass, channel catfish and bluegill. Each child may catch and keep up to three fish. Kids Fishing Fun Day activities also include a photo op at the First Catch booth and free drinks provided by Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper Bottling Company.

This event is free but registration is required by Thursday, June 1, 5 p.m., at ParkBoard.org/FarmPark. On-site registration may be available, but space is limited, so registration is encouraged. Kids age 3-15 may register to fish at 8, 9:30 or 11 a.m. Space is limited and sessions may fill up.

All children must be accompanied by an adult. Bring your own rod and reel, or rent one from the Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park’s gift shop for $5.50.

In case of inclement weather, Kids Fishing Fun Day may be rescheduled to June 11. Registered participants will be notified.

Support for this event is provided by the Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper Bottling Company.
