SPRINGFIELD, MO — Springfield Botanical Gardens at Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park hosts the city’s annual Arbor Day Celebration Saturday, April 22, 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Peace Through People Pavilion, 2400 S. Scenic Ave., Springfield.
The Arbor Day Celebration includes a 10 a.m. program with a mayoral proclamation and Tree City USA awards. After the program, the celebration continues with tree-themed fun for kids and adults, including crafts and activities, guided walks through the gardens, a tree planting with the Greater Springfield Board of Realtors and free tree giveaways.
This year’s celebration marks Springfield’s 38th year as a designated Tree City USA, an affiliation which helps communities become more vibrant through trees.
The event is presented in partnership by the City of Springfield, Tree City USA, the Missouri Department of Conservation, City Utilities of Springfield, the Greater Springfield Board of Realtors and the Springfield-Greene County Park Board.
