SPRINGFIELD, MO — The Ozark Mountain Daredevils return to Springfield to headline the annual Earth Day Music and Sustainability Festival, presented by Kaleidoscope, Saturday, April 22, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. This one-day plastic-free festival takes place rain or shine at Jordan Valley Park in downtown Springfield, 635 E. Trafficway.
The legendary Ozark Mountain Daredevils, who celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2022, share the festival stage with regional and local acts including the Hillbenders, Sister Lucille, 83 Skidoo with the Shandies, Opal Agafia, Brandon and Annabelle Moore, Springfield Aerial Fitness and many more. A full lineup is available at earthdayspringfieldmo.org.
In addition to great music, the Earth Day Festival’s mission is to support, enrich and help the community connect with local environmental organizations, who work all year to help keep our environment clean and sustainable. Proceed from the festival benefit three organizations: The Ozark Society, dedicated to preservation of wild and scenic rivers, wilderness, and unique natural areas; Springfield Compost Collective, creating mindfulness around food waste and the recycling process via composting and soil education; and Springfield-Greene County Park Board, providing the very best in parks and recreation facilities, programs, events, and services to our community.
The Earth Day Festival also includes vendors and nonprofits representing environmental and educational efforts, as well as food trucks and beverage service. In keeping with the festival’s plastic-free commitment, beverages are served in commemorative stainless cups, sold to benefit the cause. Food will be served in compostable containers and food waste will be composted. Guests are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles to refill at hydration stations.
Admission to the Earth Day Festival is $35 for ages 13 and older. Admission is free for kids ages 12 and under, accompanied by a ticketed adult. This is a family-friendly event and includes kids’ activities. Guests may bring lawn chairs and blankets. No dogs or coolers are allowed.
Free festival parking is available nearby at Ozarks Technical Community College, 1001 E Chestnut Expy., near the intersection of Sherman Avenue and Bob Barker Boulevard. A free shuttle will run from the free parking to the festival throughout the event. Parking is also available for a fee at Jordan Valley Car Park. Public parking at Jordan Valley Ice Park will be limited. Guests are encouraged to walk, bike or carpool to the event.
Jordan Valley Park will be closed to the general public April 22, except for ticketed festival attendees.
