Urban Challenge Teams Being Accepted

The Springfield-Greene County Park Board will host the Springfield Urban Challenge on Saturday, Sept. 13, at Cooper Tennis Complex, 2331 E. Pythian Street.

The Urban Challenge is a race through and around Springfield. Teams compete against each other to complete the course the fastest using a variety of transportation means (bus, bike and running). Participants will encounter both mental and physical challenges during the race, requiring quick thinking and strong team-work skills.

There are three divisions:

  • Adult Long Course (4 – 6 hours), $100 for a team of three
  • Adult Short Course (2 – 4 hours), $75 for a team of three
  • Family Challenge (2 – 4 hours), $15 per person (2 – 4 per team, and must have one adult and one 7-17 year-old)

Pre-register on or before Friday, Aug. 29, at Doling Family Center, 301 E. Talmage St. Prices increase to $120/team, $95/team, and $25/person after August 29. Some equipment is required. Prizes will be awarded in each of the three divisions.
