CODP Tennis provides youth ages 5-18 with opportunities for all skill levels. The CODP program has three main components to allow for more individual flexibility.
The Outreach component provides area schools and partners staff training as well as youth program delivery sessions. Annually, over 7000 youth are exposed to tennis through this component.
The Recreational component provides introductory lessons throughout the community in a relaxed manner that will give youth a chance to see if they enjoy the sport.
The Academy component, given at the Cooper Tennis Complex, focuses more on the competitive nature of the sport. Using the USA High Performance model, the 6 USTA Sport Sciences and Cooper’s Complete Player Guide players are given the training to reach their goals. Academy levels are based on a ladder system and use age appropriate equipment to accelerate the learning process in the younger age levels.
The ITF Play and Stay format as well as the USTA’s Quickstart program are used to get younger kids competing as soon as possible. Tournaments and match play are encouraged in all the Academy levels. Parent/Coach nights are scheduled throughout the year to keep everyone informed and give parents the opportunity to ask questions.
