Ice hockey through the Greater Springfield Community Olympic Development Program provides boys/girls with the programs necessary for a young athlete to develop the skills to become the best hockey players they can be. The program offers the latest on-, and off-ice training techniques essential to taking a player’s game to the next level. Mediacom Ice Park’s prime location in Jordan Valley Park has access to park trails, two full sheets of ice, and a fitness room all in one location. Our focus is to provide a strong fundamental foundation for players in a fun, competitive atmosphere. We allow kids to grow as hockey players without ever having to leave the Springfield area.  Joe’s extensive hockey background has allowed him to play elite hockey starting as a youth, all the way up to the professional levels. He offers all CODP participants great hockey knowledge from his playing experiences and provides an opportunity for individual athletes to excel through CODP group camps, training programs, or by individual lessons.

CODP Ice Hockey camps & programs focus on three main aspects of the game to help players achieve their hockey goals.

  • On- Ice training
    • Players benefit from a wide range of game situational drills and individual skills development.
    • Develop fundamentally strong and well conditioned skaters during the on and off seasons of hockey.
    • Provide on-ice instruction that will prepare the player for higher levels of hockey.
  • Off-ice Training
    • Agility, speed, and strength programs that are designed to help players gain functional muscle that applies directly to the sport of hockey.
    • Fitness room and park access helps players find an extra edge that will allow them to compete with the best in the game.
    • Sport specific training helps players develop power and endurance and help prevent injury during the season.
  • Classroom Lectures and Mental Development
    • Classroom setting will allow players to have interactions with coaches and high level guests to learn leadership roles and qualities to become better athletes on and off the ice.
    • Mental training will allow players to visualize themselves in game conditions making the players more confident in their abilities.
    • Designed to inform athletes and parents about college scouting, recruiting practices, and self-marketing.

Ice hockey requires both on- and off-ice skills, along with proper mental training. CODP is focused on developing the total athlete in all areas of the game. We will provide the tools and we will work together to help all our athletes achieve their future hockey aspirations and Olympic dreams in Springfield Mo.
