Park Board’s holiday activities begin this weekend with Golf Sale, Candy Cane Lane and Train Display


The Springfield-Greene County Park Board has lots of opportunities throughout December for kids and adults to get into the holiday spirit, including:

PGA Annual Golf Sale: Nov. 30-Dec. 2

Looking for great golf deals? Shop and save up to 75-percent off new and used golf products, as several area golf courses (including three Park Board courses) collaborate for their annual holiday PGA sale at 228 W. Sunshine, at the corner of Sunshine and Campbell, next to Whole Hog Cafe. Sale runs Thursday, Nov. 30, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; Friday, Dec. 1, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Saturday, Dec. 2, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. ParkBoard.org/Events

Candy Cane Lane: Fri., Dec. 1-Sun., Dec. 17 (weekends only)

Drive through the Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park and enjoy dazzling farm-themed holiday displays and more than 10,000 lights. Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights only, Dec. 1-17, 5-8 p.m. Hot cocoa and other treats available for purchase. $5/vehicle. ParkBoard.org/Events

Kids’ Night at Dan Kinney Family Center: Fri., Dec. 1

Parents enjoy a night out while the kiddos watch The Muppet Christmas Carol, play games and do crafts at Dan Kinney Family Center, 5-8:30 p.m. For kids 5-12 yrs. $7/Members, $10/Non-Members. ParkBoard.org/163/Kids-Families

Holiday Train Garden Display at the Botanical Center: Dec. 1-31

The magic of miniature landscapes and moving model trains transforms the Botanical Center atrium into a holiday wonderland. Presented by the Ozarks Garden Railway Society at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center, 2400 S. Scenic Ave. Dec. 1- Dec. 31, open Monday-Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free. Donations accepted. 417-891-1515. ParkBoard.org/Events

Little Elves Party at Doling Family Center: Sat., Dec. 2

Need time to shop without the kids? Parents, drop off your kids (5-10 yrs.) and we’ll enjoy a night of crafts, cookie decorating, a movie, popcorn and more, 4-7:30 p.m. $7/Members, $10/Non-Members. ParkBoard.org/169/Kids-Families

Christmas at the Farmstead: Sat., Dec. 2

Join volunteers at the Gray-Campbell Farmstead to celebrate an old-fashioned Christmas in the oldest house in Springfield. Decorate the tree with hand-made vintage ornaments. Enjoy hot cocoa, cookies and carols at Gray-Campbell Farmstead, 1-3 p.m. Free admission. ParkBoard.org/Events

Free Ice Skating at Mediacom Ice Park: Sun., Dec. 3, Sat., Dec. 23 and Mon., Dec. 25

Free ice skating during the Festival of Lights at Mediacom Ice Park: Sun., Dec. 3, 4:30-5:30 p.m.; Sat, Dec. 23, 4:30-5:30 p.m.; and Mon., Dec. 25, 5-6 p.m. Admission is free, rent skate for $3 or bring your own. And don’t miss the holiday lights at Jordan Valley Park! ParkBoard.org/IcePark

Create Wreaths and Centerpieces at Springfield Botanical Center: Sat., Dec. 10

Don’t let your kids sit at home with the Winter Break Blues. Join the SPARC crew for fun-filled camp-style activities at Sequiota Elementary. Space is limited. Registration required. School's Out Christmas Gift and Decoration Making at Botanical Center: Fri., Dec. 22

Make holiday decorations with dried materials from the garden. Choose from dried flowers, leaves, cones and pods to make ornaments, table decorations, wall hangings and more!
