One of the earliest gardens features a colorful display of mostly bulbs and perennials pacing throughout the growing season. This garden actually started in 1975, as a joint community project sponsored by the city’s four premiere garden clubs.
The garden is designed to provide interest throughout the growing season, starting with spring bulbs of daffodils and tulips, then peonies and iris transitioning to roses, daylilies and astors to bookend the fall season.
The “Quad Garden” was designed in four quadrants representing the Brentwood Estates, Cherry Court, Ever Green and Hillbilly Gardeners clubs, today operating as the Springfield Garden Council.
Additional support is needed, however, to maintain other aspects of the garden’s infrastructure.
