Outdoor Initiatives


Outdoor Initiatives provides adventure trips, outdoor recreation programs & education at an affordable price to the community. Leave No Trace guidelines are followed on all excursions.   1. Giboney Cave Tours


    Explore the myths, facts, and history of Giboney Cave at Doling Park. Shoes get muddy on Walking Tours, and cavers get very muddy and wet on Tunnel Tours. Bring a headlamp or flashlight, or use one of ours. Dates are subject to weather and bat activity.Register by Friday prior to each tour date. View program flyer.

  2. Adventure Days


    If you are ages 11-14 and like all kinds of outdoor adventure, these day trips are for you! Each day is packed full of different outdoor activities that include hiking, cave crawling, kayaking, and more. Sign up for one day, or for the ultimate adventure, all five! Drop off and pick up at Dan Kinney Family Center. Limited to 11 kids. Register by Monday prior to each program. | View program flyer.

  3. Rocky Mountain National Park Extended Trip


    Walk across the Continental Divide, hike through aspen groves, drive up Trail Ridge Road and camp out in mountain bliss. A true Rocky Mountain adventure awaits you on this extended Colorado trip. Each day includes iconic hikes and activities in and around Rocky Mountain National Park. Fee covers all transportation, lodging, and entrance fees, including six nights of camping and a night in a hotel. Major gear available for rent. Suggested gear and meal planning available.   4. Current River Paddle Trip


    Paddle an easy and scenic 17 miles of the Current River, Cedargrove Access to Pulltite. This overnight trip is distinguished by abundant springs, a cave that can be paddled into and points of historical interest. Transportation and boat included. Major gear available for rent.
